The Bright Futures Scholarship application becomes available on December first of each year. Students applying for this scholarship program sponsored by the Florida Lottery should do so before they graduate high school in order to receive the award, otherwise they will not be eligible for this award later on.

Since July 1, 2013, students are not required to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive Bright Futures funding for the 2013-14 academic year. There is also no need to apply for FAFSA for the initial application and renewal of the Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) and Access to Better Learning and Education Grant (ABLE).
